Seizure.

During my shift at ARC on Monday night, my coworkers and I heard strange sounds coming from outside the computer lab and figured it was somebody screwing around. About a minute later, a woman comes in and asks “When somebody has a seizure, you just let them be, right?” The answer is yes. You wait until he/she finishes seizing, and make sure he/she is not near anything that could potentially bang against his/her head. Which I had forgotten. Which is a shame to my education and to myself, because I’ve been a NJ State Certified EMT for 2 years now. I didn’t let any of my coworkers know about this because then I would be obligated to treat this person which would end really badly, because I have forgotten nearly everything I learned in EMT School. Thankfully, he seemed to be very lucid after his episode, and the paramedics (because the woman called 911, and not RUPD) arrived quickly and treated just as quickly. I hope he made a speedy recovery and that the seizure is not the beginning of a terrible illness. This post is about how much I suck and how fortunate it is that I am not employed as an EMT.
